What is the commute to Charlotte from Huntersville like?

The commute has improved since the widening of I-77. There are delays in the morning and afternoon that can change the drive time from 15 minutes to 30 minutes. Traffic tends to flow a little better toward Charlotte because the lanes widen after exit 23 and an HOV lane was added at exit 18. Coming north in the afternoon often slows to a snail’s pace as lanes narrow at exit 23.

A new interchange for I-485 will open soon just north of exit 18. The jury is still out on what impact this will make on relieving …

What about traffic and roads in Huntersville?

Huntersville suffers from the typical pains of any fast growing city. When a street widens, it often reveals a new bottleneck. The town planners just published a transportation study, which can be viewed at the Huntersville Town Website. .
